From January 31 to February 2, 2026, Albert I'mStein joined the eyewear world at MIDO Milan 2026 — the largest optical trade show on the planet, held at Fiera Milano Rho. We brought four of our favorite frames to the floor: Betona, Sarah, Vincent, and Spritz. Here's what we showed, what we saw, and why MIDO is still the best room in the industry to be a small, fun, independent brand in.
Why MIDO Milan 2026 Matters
If you don't live and breathe eyewear, here's the context: MIDO is not just a trade show, it's the trade show. It's the world's largest optical trade show, spread across 7 pavilions and 8 themed exhibition areas, with more than 1,200 exhibitors from over 50 countries. Last year alone, 42,000 people attended across the three days, representing 168 countries, alongside over 400 accredited journalists. Numbers that big are hard to picture until you're standing in Hall 1 watching it happen.
Hall 1 — described by organizers as the show's "beating heart" — got a full renovation for the 2026 edition, and it's where the major commercial brands set the tone for the season. But the room that actually matters most to a brand like ours is the Design area. Halls 2 and 4 are positioned as a zone for experimentation and creative expression, concentrating independent and emerging designer brands alongside more established European independents — and walking that corridor in 2026, the density of European independent designers in a single space was unlike anything at a North American show, with brands talking directly to buyers from Brazil, Japan, and the UAE in the same conversation.
That's exactly the energy we came for.
What We Showcased at MIDO 2026
We brought four frames to Milan, each one telling a different part of the Albert I'mStein story. Here's what they're about — and why they made the cut.
Betona — Architecture Series

Betona takes its name from "beton," the word for concrete, and it's part of our Architecture Series. The design is inspired by the exterior surfaces of concrete buildings — the frame carries a solid, honest character that balances raw architectural influence with refined acetate execution. Look closely and you'll spot a subtle metal detail inspired by the small, irregular windows found in concrete facades. It's a quiet design signature that most opticians only notice on the second look — which is exactly the kind of detail that gets a conversation started on a trade show floor.
Sarah — Cocktail Series

Sarah is the first two-bridge optical design in our Cocktail Series, introduced alongside Vincent. Two-bridge frames can easily feel heavy or overpowering, but Sarah stays light and expressive thanks to a fluted line detail — the upper and lower sections vary subtly in width, creating visual rhythm without ever feeling visually crowded. It's proof that a bold structural choice doesn't have to mean a bold weight on your face.
Vincent — Cocktail Series

Vincent is the bolder sibling in the Cocktail Series — a confident, oversized aviator-inspired two-bridge statement piece developed in design collaboration with our Italian agent, Vincenzo, reflecting his expressive character and genuine passion for distinctive eyewear. The same signature fluted line texture that softens Sarah gives Vincent depth and presence, keeping a typically heavy silhouette expressive without losing wearability. Showing Vincent in Milan, in front of an Italian audience, felt like bringing the frame home.
Spritz — Cocktail Series

Spritz closes out the Cocktail Series lineup, inspired by the light, refreshing spirit of the classic Italian cocktail it's named after. Clean proportions and lively color accents make it feel bright, relaxed, and easy to wear. The real signature, though, is the magnet: instead of using it purely for a clip-on function, we reimagined it as a playful design element — almost like an adult's logo — letting the wearer customize their own bridge decoration. It's an interactive piece built entirely around our FUN & HAPPY philosophy, carrying the message that sits at the center of everything we make: "Why not?"
What We Saw on the Show Floor
A few things stood out walking MIDO Milan 2026 beyond our own booth:
Independent design had real density this year. MIDO 2026 put a clear spotlight on independent eyewear, with the Design area showcasing brands moving from the Academy into Design — a signal of growth and confidence in their positioning. Being in that room with brands at a similar stage felt like the right place to be.
Craftsmanship and sustainability were front and center. Organizers noted this year's collections highlighted increasingly lightweight and high-performance frames, state-of-the-art and sustainable materials, and AI-based solutions for design, customization, and vision comfort. Eyewear is clearly being treated as both a technological platform and an aesthetic object now — not one or the other.
The buyer mix was genuinely global. Buyers from Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa — markets that rarely show up at North American events — were routinely present in Milan, which is part of why MIDO remains, in our view, the single most efficient room in the eyewear industry for a brand with international ambitions.
Behind the Scenes
Trade shows are exhausting in the best way — three days on your feet, talking through every frame story a dozen times, and watching people's faces when they pick up Spritz and realize the bridge magnet swaps. That reaction, every single time, is why we keep showing up to rooms like this one.
